SERVICES

Marriage and Family Therapy:

Divine Intervention Professional Counseling Services Personnel believe that the ability for individuals to meet and form a family is one of the beautiful gifts that life has to offer. However, since some individuals have some sort of baggage or issues that could be traced back to childhood, it could interfere with one’s ability to have a good marriage/family. In addition, here at Divine Intervention Professional Counseling Services, we believe that we are the product of our environment where our belief systems are formed. Those belief systems have a way of interfering in one’s relationship if he or she does not know how to work together with others in his or her family unit.

Here at Divine Intervention Professional Counseling Services, we help individuals identify the roots of their problems, then using their values/belief systems to guide them into solving their problems in their marriage/family unit.

Depression:
Most of us get depressed from time to time. Failing an exam, not getting into one’s choice of college or graduate school and breaking up with a romantic partner are all examples of events that can precipitate a depressed mood in many people. However, here at Divine Intervention Professional Counseling Services Center, we believe that mood disorders involve much more sever alterations in mood and for much longer periods of time. In such cases the disturbances of mood are intense and persistent enough to be clearly not normal, often leading to serious problems in relationships and work performance.

At Divine Intervention Professional Counseling Services Center, we ask clients to complete Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) to screen for depression. If questionnaire indicates positive results for depression, we then travel back in time with the client to their childhood to try and find out the cause of their depression since we believe that we are the product of our environment. We also use Mood Disorder Questionnaire (MDQ) to screen for Bipolar Disorder.

Then, we use cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients battle with their depression as well as sending them to see our psychiatrist if needs be for medication.

Anxiety:
Defining fear and anxiety is difficult and there has never been complete agreement whether the two emotions are indeed distinct from each other. Historically, the most common way of distinguishing between fear and anxiety has been whether there is a clear danger that would be regarded as real by most people. When the source of danger is clear, the experience emotion has been called fear. With anxiety, however, we frequently cannot specify clearly what the danger is. Simply stating, anziety seems to be experienced as an unpleasant inner state in which we are anticipating something dreadful happening that is not entirely predictable from our actual circumstances.

Although there are many threatening situations that provoke fear of anxiety unconditionally, many of our resources of fear and anxiety are learned. But, whatever the sources are, here at Divine Intervention Professional Counseling Services Center, we use behavior modification to include prolonged exposure to feared situations as well as cognitive behavioral therapy to help individuals deal with their anxiety problem.

Anger Management Program:
Here at Divine Intervention Professional Counseling Services Center, we help individuals understand what anger is all about, when anger becomes a problem, myths about anger, anger as a habit as well as breaking out from the cycle, events that trigger anger, aggression cycle, four cue categories as well as A-B-C model as it relates to anger management. Counselors also help individuals develop anger control plan to help them manage their anger.
